Politics

“The price good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men.”
― Plato

There are certain subjects that should be avoided in polite company, of which politics is quite often included. Few subjects can divide a room, a friendship, or even a family as quickly as politics. Quite often politics is hereditary, and it takes a strong influence to begin to see things in a different light. Here’s what we know: no party has a monopoly on Truth, and Truth can be known. Let’s cut through the BS of those who are elected and make sure we hold them accountable to do the things they say they will. Also, let’s quite allowing elected representatives to have a free pass on Truth and transparency. Lying should not be a right of passage for a politician.

Studying The Internationalists: What If War Was Illegal?

by Garrett Mullet | posted in: Military, Politics | 1

What if war was illegal? Imagine a world in which aggression itself became immoral. Would you support that? Would such a move make the world a safer place? And could it perhaps even force a condition of world peace? You … Continued

Charlottesville and Consistency in Condemning Racism

by Garrett Mullet | posted in: Politics, Race | 0

Only condemning racism from one race is itself racist. It is racist to only repudiate racism by white people, but to overlook it from other ethnicities. Don’t get me wrong. It’s all well and good to denounce Nazi flags and … Continued

Trump’s Lewd Remarks Put Evangelical Supporters in Difficult Spot

by Garrett Mullet | posted in: Politics | 0

Lewd talk in Trump tape puts supporters in a difficult position. After the release of a video from 2005 of Donald Trump making lewd remarks to a reporter with Access Hollywood ahead of the second debate between Trump and Secretary … Continued

by Garrett Mullet | posted in: Politics | 0

If you didn’t catch it yourself, allow me to give you my brief summary of last night’s Vice Presidential debate: Pence won it handily. My dad was up from Glendive and watched the 2016 Vice Presidential debate with me last … Continued

Reconsidering My Support For Donald Trump, And Doubling Down On It

by Garrett Mullet | posted in: Politics | 2

My support for Donald Trump to this point could be called reluctant at best. In fact, I haven’t written much about this election at all since the primaries ended. Did I give up a little bit after Donald Trump secured … Continued

The Morality of Trump Jr.’s Syrian Skittles Analogy

by Garrett Mullet | posted in: Politics | 0

Terrorist attacks rocked Manhattan, New Jersey, and Minnesota this past weekend. In response, Donald Trump’s son tweeted a straightforward Syrian Skittles analogy on Monday night. In it he compared admission of Syrian refugees when by all accounts some will be … Continued

Hysteria Over Laura Ingraham Nazi Salute Explained

by Garrett Mullet | posted in: Politics | 0

I woke up yesterday morning surprised to learn that media outlets were running stories about a supposed Laura Ingraham Nazi salute at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland. Or at least I wish I had been surprised to learn that. Yes, yes. We … Continued

A Common Thread Between Clinton’s Emails and Black Lives Matter

by Garrett Mullet | posted in: Politics | 0

Is there a common thread between Secretary Clinton’s emails and Black Lives Matter? I think so. There’s at least one, anyway – maybe more. It’s all entirely too convenient for the Democratic Party. But look! Over there! It’s a change … Continued

America Needs Another Declaration of Independence

by Garrett Mullet | posted in: History, Politics | 1

Enough of fireworks and flags and everything red, white, and blue. We Americans need another Declaration of Independence. Yet first we must remember why the first one was written. Yesterday was the Fourth of July, Independence Day in these United … Continued

What will we do when Christians are persecuted in America?

by Garrett Mullet | posted in: Politics, Theology | 2

Is persecution coming to America? Yes. I’m sad to say I believe it is. At this point it doesn’t seem like a question of if, but rather of when. So what will we do when Christians are persecuted in America, and … Continued
