News outlets are reporting that the Umpqua Community College shooter in Oregon lined all his hostages up against the walls of their classrooms today and demanded they tell him their religion. Those of his victims who said they were Christian he immediately shot in the head. Those who said they were not Christians, or who refused to answer what religion they believe in – he shot them in the leg or somewhere else.
Granted, this may turn out to be a false rumor. If the accounts are indeed true, however, I’m curious. What did the shooter have against Christians? Why did he have such a strong hatred for Christians that he would especially mark these people for execution based on their faith?
Can you think of even a single mass shooting in America which hasn’t occurred in a Gun-Free Zone?
Obviously the way to make Americans safer is to eliminate all of these Gun-Free zones and to thereby recognize these places for what they really are. Perhaps a better description would be something like “madman empowerment zones,” or “shoot people like fish in a barrel zones.”
Yet if you listened to President Obama’s press conference this evening regarding the shooting in Oregon, you know he made one thing abundantly clear: he wants American citizens to follow the pattern of the United Kingdom and Australia when it comes to what he likes to euphemistically refer to as “common sense measures.”
If you’re not familiar with the gun laws in those countries, here’s the long and short of it: you’re not supposed to own guns in the UK and Australia. In other words, Obama is in favor of you not being allowed to own guns in America. So once again we had another gun-free zone shooting spree, and once again we see President Obama pushing gun control in response to it.
Now will someone please explain to me why taking guns away from Americans, in particular American Christians, is going to make safer anyone but the madmen and monsters who wish to prey upon us?
Regardless of what the motives of this Oregon community college shooter end up being, regardless of what the final details are, regardless of whether this was a case of American Christians being targeted for public execution in their own nation, we know for a fact that ISIS has made abundantly clear they desire and are committed to the extermination and subjugation of Christians everywhere they can reach out and touch them. We also know ISIS has recruits and sympathizers and sleeper cells and lone wolf actors in the U.S. waiting for the right time to strike.
Considering all this, why in the name of all that is good and reasonable would we permit ourselves to be disarmed and deprived of the means with which to defend ourselves against such madmen as these who are clearly bent on our destruction? Look how well being unarmed worked out for the victims of this tragedy in Oregon today!
Ask yourself: if guns are so useless for stopping bad guys, why do the police and our military and President Obama’s Secret Service have them?
And I have a question for those – President Obama included – who push for gun control or gun confiscation whenever bad guys go on shooting sprees in gun free zones:
Shouldn’t it tell you something that the bad guy who murdered and maimed so many at that community college in Oregon today only stopped his violence when the good guys with guns showed up?
Jesus said to them, “But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one.”
